Starla Raley, a native of Illinois, holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in piano performance from the University of North Texas where she was a pupil of Joseph Banowetz. She studied at the Vienna Conservatory of Music in Vienna, Austria and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including first prize in the Ernst Krenek Competition of the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition. She has performed on stages in New Mexico, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, Michigan, California, North Carolina and Arizona. As a collaborative artist, she has played for such internationally renowned artists as German cellist Tess Remy-Schumacher, New York-based opera singers Shawn Thuris (tenor) and Monica Hershenson Thuris (mezzo soprano), and award-winning flutist Juliana Overmier. Starla Raley is an active champion of new music written for piano and, in 2012, gave the world premier performance of a set of six piano pieces, entitled Hermititos, written by Texas composer Ken Metz. She was recently named Professor of Music Emerita honoring a twenty-two-year tenure of teaching at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Starla Raley recently married and relocated to Madison, continuing her lifelong career of piano performance and teaching, she teaches at Ivy Tech Community College, serves as organist of Christ Episcopal Church, and owns and operates the Mulberry Music Studio in downtown Madison.

Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, violinist Maegan Sparks completed her Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance at the University of Georgia, in the year 2015. Afterwards, she went on to pursue her Master of Music degree in Violin Performance at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Upon completion of her degree, she moved to Madison, Indiana to be closer to family before she pursues opportunities abroad. She is an active chamber and orchestral musician, as well as an active teacher. Having performed with numerous orchestras in Georgia and North Texas, she is well versed in all standard orchestral repertoire. While in Texas, she enjoyed performing regularly with the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra, the Richardson Symphony, and the Abilene Philharmonic. Since moving to Indiana, she has performed with the Louisville Philharmonia and regularly collaborated with Starla Raley and Jonathan Stanley, of Madison. Most recently, Maegan Sparks has been able to combine her literary and music interests as co-founder of She works as editor, researcher, and contributor to the site. Masterpiece Finder seeks to bring awareness to the arts by rediscovering artists who have been forgotten and by highlighting up-and-coming artists who have made noteworthy contributions in their field.
